This month, social media app Instagram announced their new ‘storytelling’ feature for brands.

More than just a ‘sponsored post’, these paid ads offer viewers a more immersive experience with your brand… like the ability to swipe between multiple images and even use an in-app browser to see webpages.
Sadly these ads are currently only available to big brand names, but we’ll undoubtedly see Instagram opening up their powerful advertising platform soon enough.
Why use Instagram in the Channel Islands?
A hashtag search for ‘#guernsey’ reveals over 76,000 images from the Instagram community. 76000!! Instagram is already a hive of activity where islanders are posting daily content – potentially about your brand too. I’ve seen many of my friends sharing not only images of island life, but snaps of their new purchases and high-street buys. Imagine if you could reply to them simply saying ‘thanks!’. It’s a perfect opportunity for Guernsey retailers to build loyalty and friendship around their brand. As Christopher Ratfliff of Econsultancy eloquently describes:
