Who needs a personal assistant when you have a smart phone? Not that I could afford a personal assistant, but luckily enough I was able to afford an iPhone!
A typical day in the life of my iPhone starts off with an alarm, waking me up ready for the day.
However before I’m even out of bed, I quickly check Facebook as well as my various daily magazines or newspapers, such as ‘The Daily’ and ‘The Times’.
While I’m getting ready for my day, my iPhone is sitting in it’s dock playing music through the speakers. I quickly check the weather on my iPhone when choosing my outfit – looking at the hourly report, I don’t want to get caught in the rain later!
On my way to work, my iPhone now acts as an iPod, skipping songs using the conveniently placed button on the headphones by simply double tapping it. Throughout the day my iPhone will remind me of the various tasks I have set myself for the day, as well as acting out the typical phone duties, phone calls and texts. I’ve remembered that I was meant to call a friend in India. So instead of wasting all my credit I simply send an e-mail to them via my iPhone, and then in moments I’m using Skype on my iPhone to talk freely to them.
Lunch time.
Using Foursquare I can see all the local businesses that may have lunch time deals on, this also allows me to see which of my friends are lunching and where! A quick text, and I have a lunch date!
During lunch, my friends and I get into various conversations, and someone mentions a new film coming out. After speaking about it for a couple minutes I pull up the trailer on IMDB, and a quick search on Odeon’s app tells me that there is a showing tomorrow night at our local cinema! I book my friends and I a few tickets using my iPhone, and my evening for tomorrow is planned. I can even pay for lunch using my iPhone!
During my last few hours of work my mind wonders to what I might want to eat for dinner tonight. I know I have chicken defrosting… Opening my recipes app, I search for all recipes that include chicken and, voila! Within seconds I have a recipe for chicken stroganoff. Done. Just a quick request for siri: ‘Please remind me to buy potatoes when I leave work.’
Later, as I’m leaving the perimeter of my work place, then my reminder flashes up! Excellent work siri. At my bus stop I quickly use ScanLife for the barcode on the bus timetable which tells me that there is a delay of 2 minutes. No problems there.
Finally my iPhone and I are home, and even though it’s time for me to relax my iPhone still has a lot of work up ahead. I decide to read some of my book and so pull it up on my kindle app and relax for a while.
When it’s time for dinner, I pull up the recipe that I found before and get to work. The recipe also includes ‘how to’ videos as well as useful tips, making my job a lot easier. Bringing up the TV listings on my phone I see that my favourite programme is on in 20 minutes, perfect timing for when my dinner is ready!
Later on, before it’s time for bed, I remember that I owe my friend some money! Quickly, again using my iPhone I transfer the money over, taking me no time at all! And then I pull up 4oD to catch up on some things I’ve missed throughout the day, as well as on YouTube.
Now it’s finally time for my iPhone and myself to rest and charge ready for another fun packed day tomorrow! Starting with my alarm!
It’s surprising to think how often we use our smart phones! What’s the typical day in the life of your phone?
