January is always a difficult month; with the excitement and sparkle of Xmas and New Year already a distant memory, and the dark days feeling like weeks until they break into Spring sunshine, we wanted to stay chirpy and remind ourselves (and you) of all the good stuff we’ve done in 2012.
So, in no particular order, here are some of our high points from 2012:
- Expanding our existing team to include Ollie Smith and Dan Hewlett. Both surfers, both with VERY good hair. We’ve also seen the return of our Creative Director, Simon English, into the fold from his travels overseas.
- Moving Crowd to new premises which we are slowly, but surely, turning into our very own space with some bespoke artwork from the very talented local artist, Andrew Woodward.
- Continuing our very popular interview series on our blog, Social Goes Local.
- Winning the HSBC Customer Service Award for Best use of Social Media 2012. We were very proud to win this for the campaigns we have created and co managed with our client, Herm Island.
- Partnering with some great new local and national businesses and pushing hard collaboratively to forge a digital landscape for the Channel Islands (more on this in 2013)
- Making a profit and just continuing to be in business during these testing economic times, especially as we are only in our third year of trading.
- Entering into some mutually beneficial relationships with new clients, and of course, sustaining really great relationships with our existing client base. To all of you, old and new, a heartfelt thank you for your faith and support.
- Speaking at several local and national events, writing for our own blog and other industry publications. We’ve always had a lot to say, individually and as a team, and whether you like it or not, we will continue to voice our opinions on things that we are passionate about!
- Continuing to develop and encourage local talent within our industry by extending our internships with University Students and local 16-18 year olds. We’re really passionate about this one, and 2013 will see us continue to shine a spotlight on the amazing wealth of talent coming through education and into the workplace.
- Our pro bono work – working closely with the Guernsey Disability Alliance on some critical changes in local policy, and following the progress of the amazing Mr Stuart Hardie, who ran a staggering 40 marathons in 40 days, which we helped communicate to his audience of supporters and charity members by managing his social media campaign for the entire duration.
These are just a few of the things we have squeezed into a very busy and productive year. When you sit down and look back, it begins to explain the bags under our eyes by Friday each week! (The wine has absolutely nothing to do with this)
So what’s next?
We are launching a new arm of the business, that we can’t say too much about right now, but suffice to say, it will be a first for the Channel Islands. On top of that, we are staying true to our ethos to give our clients the best possible service, in as transparent a format as possible. As technology continues to evolve and change at a rapid pace, it’s a confusing time for businesses trying to navigate this landscape. We promise to do what we do best – hand hold our clients through these challenging times and continue to push hard for Guernsey business.
Happy New Year!
