GFF Flooring & Gardens are a Guernsey based business who offer a wide range of products & services across the two sectors they operate within.
GFF Flooring provide professional installation of the highest quality Carpets, Wood Flooring, Vinyl Flooring & Rugs, only working with the best brands that the industry has to offer. They also provide ‘Venetian Effects’, also a product in a sense, but much more reliant on the high skill of the installer, a trait that is embedded within GFF Flooring & Gardens.
Under the GFF brand also resides GFF Gardens, a business that provides the same high quality workmanship as GFF Flooring, whilst providing a vast range of services to satisfy even the most demanding of gardens and green spaces.
We decided on a clean & spacious layout using subtle colour accents that would compliment the already monochromatic established brand of black/white. A toned down yellow for the flooring section of the website that resembles wood texture, and a rich green accent colour for the gardens side, resembling grass/greenery.
The goal for this project was to connect the user with the supplier, and to not bombard them with too much ‘stuff’. GFF Flooring wanted their customers to come into their showroom, SEE & FEEL the products they would potentially be adding to their home/space.
Let’s take a closer look at just some of the details in this project.
We started with a full page display explaining exactly who they are & what they do, accompanied by an attractive long exposure image of the GFF Flooring showroom.
Clearly shown are the contact details for the business, not only at the very top of the screen, but also over the the top of the dark themed image. Your eyes can’t help but be drawn by the contrast here. Users being able to easily contact GFF Flooring & Gardens is paramount, as mentioned earlier, they want people to come into their showroom and SEE their products as a priority.
Each product category page featuring the respective brands needed to ‘look good’. Emphasise the brands superior offering through both text & imagery, convincing the user to delve deeper into their respective full catalogue websites. Then, with enough information on their side, they could choose to contact GFF Flooring directly about the brand in question using the call to action provided.
On the ‘Gardens’ section of the website, which is ultimately a microsite within the main GFF Flooring & Gardens website, more emphasis was placed on the services the business provides. We used strong visuals to represent each service, plus some copy that clearly describes that particular service. The link on all of the visible elements here link to a pre-populated contact form based on that service.
Did you know what users are browsing more on mobile devices than on desktop in 2024? (See the numbers here)
With this in mind, the clean & space conscious (we do love consistent spacing) design of the GFF Flooring & Gardens website lends itself very well to mobile scaling, without having to compromise any of the original design features available on the desktop view.
We also love iconography, especially when it translates well into mobile browsing.
So in essence, why type just words to explain something, when you can use an eye-catching icon draped in your brands colour palette to convey for example, a service you offer. Not only does the icon send a message, but the use of your brands colours creates a seamless link between the message and your brand.
Lastly, what’s better than someone telling you how great they are? Showing you.
GFF Flooring & Gardens have done an amazing job of documenting all of the fantastic work they have done over time, both within peoples homes, and outside of them. We created an easy to use gallery within the ‘Gardens‘ microsite that will filter all of the images right in front of you, so you can see exactly what applies to you, without having to click out of the page.
Interested in ‘Garden Maintenance’ but not ‘Pressure Washing’? No problem.
