Leo, the founder of Leo Consults, approached Crowd in search of a professional brand identity and a website to showcase exactly who he was and what he does.
With a current website that was lacking in engaging design and the ability to easily manage its content, and with an existing brand that never really felt established, Crowd were excited at the prospect of delivering a whole new identity for Leo Consults.
The website would include several different areas, but didn’t need to feature a lot of content.
We were therefore tasked with creating a new website design that not only looked good, but would be easy to manage, with the implementation of a Content Management System.
As mentioned, the brand needed to be professional looking, something that was bold & clear. After several explorations into the vast world of fonts, we decided on a style. Next, we needed to decide the colour palette, since there were no established colours on the previous website that the client particularly liked.
Using a gradient style fill in the brand colour tests, it was decided that the Pink really stood out and best suited.
With the brand created & approved by Leo, the next stage was to create a design for the website, and to then develop this into a cross device pleasing website.
There wasn’t a need to display a lot of content, what we needed was something that would make it easy to get all the important details across, with minimal fuss. A 1 page scrolling website would serve this purpose, but with a twist…
When scrolling between sections, a pattern emerges whereby the background colours switch between Light & Dark, with the font elements following suit in order to create the contrast required. This provides more impact between sections, and with the text colours inverted, the reading experience is suddenly fresh.

Without the need to remove any major elements from the design, we were able to scale the layout down so that it would be just as easy to browse on a mobile device as it would be on a desktop.
The goal with this project was for users to ultimately make contact with Leo, whether that be via traditional methods of contact (telephone & email) or through social media channels. The emphasis of brand/feel over mass amounts of content was no accident, the brand was designed to be professional but approachable, putting a face to a brand name.
So, by using ‘sticky’ elements at the top of the page (brand, telephone number, email) and on the right side of the screen (social media links), users can always see how to make contact.
(For mobile, we decided to keep these points of contact in the menu, away from the default view but never far away, all in the name of a clutter free experience…)
