Ultrabeam Hydrographic are a Cornwall (UK) based business who deliver high-quality hydrographic and geophysical survey services to a wide range of clients, from ports and harbours, utilities, offshore renewable energy, oil & gas and public sector marine industries.
They needed a fresh, easy to use & modern looking website that would showcase their range of Services & Technologies, that could be easily managed via a Content Management System.
Although packed with useful technical information, their current website wasn’t quite meeting the desired look & feel to compliment it. It needed high quality photography to showcase not only their practices but to use throughout the website, and give the content a chance to breathe.
We focussed on an impactful & marine based colour palette, larger font sizes for powerful statements over the top of relevant imagery, and clean yet simple page layouts that make it easy to observe the content.
Starting with a full page display explaining who exactly they are & what they do, backed by a subtle but eye pleasing background image, the last item is a call to action, one that takes the user down to the next section on the homepage: Services.
‘Learn More’ links within each individual service page redirect the user to the contact page and prepopulate the area of interest fields. Showcasing their ever expanding team was also a goal of theirs, and to offer more information about each team member.
Did you know what users are browsing more on mobile devices than on desktop in 2023? (See the numbers here)
With this in mind, the clean & space conscious (we love consistent spacing…) design of the Ultrabeam Hydrographic website lends itself very well to mobile scaling, without having to compromise any of the original design features available on the desktop view.
And whilst we’re on the subject of website usability, the often overlooked but simple addition of ‘breadcrumbs‘ can make browsing a website that much easier for the user. Once you’ve clicked a few times, it can sometimes be difficult to know where on the website you actually are, or how ‘deep’ you are…
